Tullamore Hockey players.
Tullamore Hockey Club is coming towards the end of another busy season. The senior ladies’ team having won 5 of their league games are hoping to remain in Division 7 of the Leinster Hockey League next season.
In the junior section we have 4 teams playing in the Leinster League and 3 of them have reached the semi finals in their respective groups. Good luck to our 6th class, 1st years and the U16s in these competitions.
The club’s equipment shed was damaged during the recent storm Eowyn. Club members with some family members applied an all hands-on deck approach with torches on a dark Friday evening in January to recover kit scattered by the storm in the Tullamore Harriers grounds. Repairs have been completed and the shed has now been fully restored with works completed by Shedco and K&E Mann Builders.
The club would like to acknowledge Sponsorship received from local businesses including Kilsaran Concrete, Castle Paints, Coughlan Engineering, John Flanagan Developments, Print Plus, Midland PVC, Black Silo Consulting and Annaharvey Farm. It would also like to acknowledge the support of funding schemes provided by Offaly Sports Partnership. Earlier this season the TY girls after completing a Youth Leadership course conducted a hockey promotion piece with the following primary schools: Rahan, Balllinamere, Educate Together, Geashill, Scoil Mhuire, St Philomena’s and Killeigh. The activity would not have been possible without the support of an adult volunteer from Offaly Volunteer Service, sponsorship of half zips in Club colours by Tullamore Credit Union and provision of transport by Declan Carroll coaches.
Future fundraising activities are planed with a bag pack in Dunnes Stores in the Bridge Centre on 18th /19th April (to be confirmed) and a church gate collection at Tullamore and Durrow catholic churches on 26th / 27th April. Any contributions to these fund raisers would be gratefully appreciated.
The launch of the club’s scoreboard which has been kindly sponsored by Lambes’s Oil was completed recently. Pictured are members of the Senior ladies’ team with some of the club junior members with Enda Kelly representing the sponsor.
