Reason for trucks revving up at 3am in Offaly town revealed and it's fantastic

A huge line-up of articulated trucks will take to the roads at 3am in Offaly later this week, and it's all for a great reason.

The very early start for these truckers is all in aid of a number of charities, and it starts in Offaly and runs all the way to Cork.

The Light Up The Night Truck Run has been organised to raise funds for Sosad Ireland, Crohn's and Colitis Ireland, Limerick Treaty Suicide Prevention and Cystic Fibrosis at University Hospital Limerick.

The run starts in Edenderry, Co Offaly, at 3am on the morning of Saturday, April 12, before making its way through Laois, Tipperary and Cork.

The run will be heading through The Heath in Laois at 4am, Moneygall at 5am, Birdhill at 6am, Charleville at 7am, Mallow at 7.45am before concluding in Kanturk at 8.15am.
