TWO founder members were recalled by Tullamore Show Chairman, John Keena at the official opening of the event today.

Christy Maye, Show PRO for many years, passed away in June while Tommy Fnlay, chair of the Dairy Section for three decades, died late last year.

Mr Keena paid tribute to both men for their sterling service to the Show since its revival in the early 1990s.

He said that the entertainment section line-up had been named "Christy's Gig Rig" this year in Christy Maye's honour.

Meanwhile, a special calf class in the Dairy Section was named in honour of the late Tommy Finlay.
