Industrial estate fire treated as deliberate

A fire which broke out at an industrial estate in Glasgow is being treated as deliberate, police have said.

The blaze on Thursday morning led to residents in the Kinning Park area being urged to keep their windows and doors shut to prevent smoke inhalation.

At the height of the incident, nine fire trucks, alongside two high-reach vehicles, tackled the fire in a single-storey storage unit.

Clouds of grey smoke were seen billowing from the premises.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire on Stanley Street.

On Friday, Police Scotland said they are treating the incident as a wilful fire-raising.

Detective Inspector Lesley-Ann McGee said: “Our inquiries remain ongoing and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have seen something to get in touch.

“I would ask that those who live in the surrounding area check their private CCTV and dashcam footage to see if it has captured anything of significance.”
