Two people have died and five others have been taken to hospital following a fire in a flat in Glasgow.
Emergency services were alerted to the blaze in a four-storey building on Hughenden Lane in Hyndland at about 10.15pm on Monday.
Nine fire appliances and a height appliance were dispatched to the scene, along with five ambulances, a paramedic response unit and two trauma teams.
Police were also in attendance.
Two people – a man and a woman – were pronounced dead at the scene.
Five others were taken to hospital for the effects of smoke inhalation.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said all properties in the building were evacuated, and firefighters rescued a number of residents.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We dispatched a number of resources to the scene including five ambulances, a paramedic response unit and two trauma teams.
“Our first resource arrived within seven minutes.
“We transported two patients to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and three patients to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
“A further patient was treated and discharged at the scene.”
Fire service area commander Andy Kenna said: “We were alerted at 10.13pm on Monday October 20 to reports of a fire affecting a first-floor flat within a four-storey building on Hughenden Lane in Glasgow.
“Operations control mobilised nine fire appliances and a high-reach appliance to the scene.
“All properties were evacuated, and firefighters rescued a number of residents from the building.
“Multiple casualties were taken into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.
“Sadly, two people were found to have passed away at the scene. Our thoughts very much remain with their friends, family, and wider community at this sad time.
“Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and prevent further spread to other properties.”
Fire crews remained at the scene until 4.53pm on Tuesday after ensuring the area was safe.
Police said the blaze is not being treated as suspicious and no criminality has been established.
