Altrincham missed the chance to move into the National League play-off places as Maxwell Mullins’ late goal condemned them to a 2-1 defeat at home to Aldershot, who moved seven points clear of the relegation zone.
Altrincham were on top in the first half, with only an excellent save from Shots goalkeeper Marcus Dewhurst denying Alex Newby in the 26th minute before Will Armitage hooked the ball off the line when Justin Amaluzor went to lob the goalkeeper.
Aldershot then snatched the lead when Cameron Hargreaves arrived on cue to rifle in Tyler Frost’s cross in the 65th minute.
Newby levelled eight minutes later with a superb finish, but Mullins had the final word when he found the top corner with two minutes of the 90 left.
