Bristol Rovers booked their spot in the second round of the FA Cup with a smash-and-grab victory at Bromley.
The game took a while to break into life and it was not until the 25th minute that Fabrizio Cavegn had the first genuine chance on goal, shooting into the side-netting when well set.
At the other end Luke Southwood did well to deny Jude Arthurs.
Bromley sprung into life on the hour mark and Southwood produced three great saves to deny Michael Cheek twice and Mitchell Pinnock. With Bromley continuing to press, Jemiah Umolu headed on to the roof of the net with Southwood beaten.
It was Rovers who took the lead however with 14 minutes remaining, Cavegn heading in after great work from Luke Thomas.
Cavegn turned provider four minutes later as he broke away and squared for Joel Cotterill to have the simple task of tapping home.
Bromley set up a grandstand finish with Umolu’s near-post header seven minutes from time and Omar Sowunmi appeared to have equalised in the second minute of stoppage time but the goal was chalked out, much to the outrage of the Bromley bench.
