Aldershot moved to within two points of safety in the National League following a goalless draw at Sutton.
Lewis Simper saw his effort from the edge of the area cannon back off the crossbar, while Sutton team-mate Davide Rodari’s header was cleared off the line in the dying moments of the first half.
Eduino Vaz saw a low shot after the break kept out by Aldershot goalkeeper Coniah Boyce-Clarke, while at the other end Jack Sims had to be alert to tip over Ryan Jones’s inswinging corner.
Neither side could create anything of note in the game’s dying stages as they settled for a point apiece.
