Owen Bailey snatches stoppage-time winner for Doncaster at Wimbledon

Owen Bailey headed the winner eight minutes into stoppage time as struggling Doncaster beat AFC Wimbledon 1-0 at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.

The defeat means The Dons are still without a home win in League One since a 2-1 victory against Wycombe in late September.

Rovers were inches away from taking the lead in the 13th minute when Luke Molyneux was picked out in the centre of the penalty area.

However, his dinked effort was superbly saved by Dons goalkeeper Nathan Bishop, who tipped the ball onto the crossbar.

Academy graduate Junior Nkeng impressed during his first senior start, and he fired just wide in the 24th minute.

George Broadbent’s half-volley looked destined to find the bottom corner as the half drew to a close, but Bishop produced more heroics, turning the ball onto the post to keep the score at 0-0.

The Dons were reduced to 10 men after Joe Lewis was shown a second yellow card for a clumsy foul on the edge of the penalty area in the 90th minute.

It looked destined to finish 0-0, but Bailey nodded in from close range to snatch all three points in stoppage time.
