Mason Burstow fires last-gasp penalty winner for Bolton

Substitute Mason Burstow scored an injury-time penalty to give promotion chasing Bolton a dramatic 2-1 Sky Bet League One win over Leyton Orient.

The Hull loanee had only been on the pitch for five minutes before converting his spot kick awarded for Azeem Abdulai’s handball.

Burstow’s eighth goal of the season was also his first in 19 hours of football since last October’s double against Peterborough.

Abdulai was at the centre of another controversial incident after Theo Archibald cancelled out Thierry Gale’s 46th-minute opener within three minutes.

Orient were incensed referee Seb Stockbridge rejected legitimate-looking penalty claims for a foul by Trotters’ keeper Jack Bonham.

Bonham was injured in the process and before play could re-start O’s boss Richie Wellens was booked for his protests.

Wanderers were jeered during and at the end of a dismal first half when they lost loan ace Amario Cozier-Duberry to injury.

But 30 seconds after the re-start Gale’s low left-foot shot brought him his sixth goal of the season only for skipper Archibald to quickly equalise from Ollie O’Neill’s cut back.
