Brackley’s comeback comes to nothing as Boreham Wood finish strongly

Matt Rush struck twice as fourth-placed Boreham Wood beat Brackley 5-3 in the Enterprise National League.

Rush opened the scoring five minutes in and Lewis Richardson doubled the lead seven minutes later with a top-corner finish.

Abdul Abdulmalik extended the Wood’s advantage with a thumping strike from the edge of the box in the 21st minute but Brackley responded in first half stoppage-time when Shane Byrne found the far corner and Ben Wodskou struck early in the second half with a free-kick.

The Saints levelled in the 55th minute when Zak Brown tapped home, but Zak Brunt restored Boreham Wood’s lead from the penalty spot and in the 84th minute Rush wrapped up three points for the hosts.
