Stars to be pushed to their limits as I’m A Celebrity… South Africa kicks off

Seann Walsh is seen struggling and saying “I don’t know how I’m going to do this”, as he takes on new heights in the first episode of the new series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! South Africa.

The all-star version of the popular reality TV show, hosted by Ant and Dec, will see former contestants return to the jungle for new trials and challenges, kicking off on Monday night with a series of gruelling tasks.

In a sneak peek at tonight’s show, Walsh, 40, will race against singer Sinitta while the pair navigate a floating obstacle course suspended 150ft up in the air.

The comedian, who was a campmate on the 2023 show, is seen with his eyes closed as he wobbles on a floating platform and says: “I can’t, I can’t, I can’t. I don’t know how I’m going to do this.”

Meanwhile, 62-year-old So Macho singer Sinitta screams as she leaps down onto a platform, while the pair battle it out to be the first person to make it to the end of the course.

The episode will start with actor Adam Thomas, Coronation Street star Beverley Callard, Olympian Sir Mo Farah and Pussycat Dolls singer Ashley Roberts as the first contestants to arrive.

The group are then split into teams as they compete against one another to win challenges, and avoid being sent to Savannah Scrub – a stripped-down, harsher version of the camp.

A preview shows the stars tasked with completing a jigsaw while balancing on a platform that seesaws on the edge of a cliff, 140ft above the ground, with Sir Mo and Roberts almost tipping the platform as they struggle through the task.

The new series will see contestants pushed to their limits, with another sneak peek revealing that Moffatt and former boxer David Haye will be locked in lodges, facing off with slime, cockroaches and reptiles as they race against each other to retrieve keys.

Reality TV star Gemma Collins, who appeared on the show in 2014 but quit after three days as she struggled with the environment, is among the stars to make a late arrival in Monday’s episode, saying she is “ready” for the jungle.

Red Dwarf star Craig Charles will also join the camp later on in the episode, and says: “I can’t believe I’m back after 11 years.”

Other celebrities who are set to brave the jungle include former footballer Jimmy Bullard and former football manager Harry Redknapp.

The reality series spin-off is pre-recorded, unlike the classic I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, and will see celebrities compete against one another to be crowned the legend.

I’m A Celebrity… South Africa kicks off at 9pm on ITV1, STV, ITVX and STV Player, and will air on weeknights.
