14-year-old girl in Derry Court for sixth time in three weeks remanded to secure accommodation

The girl who cannot be identified was charged with breaching her bail by leaving a children's home and having consumed alcohol
A 14-year-old girl has been remanded to secure accommodation approved by the PSNI and Social Services when she appeared at Derry Magistrate's Court for the sixth time in three weeks.
The girl who cannot be identified was charged with breaching her bail by leaving a children's home and having consumed alcohol.
The court was told that the girl left the home and was not found until the next morning when she was located in Sainsbury's car park with her mother.
The girl had an injury to her arm that required stitches.
Police objected to bail on the grounds that the girl presented a risk to herself and others.
Defence counsel Grainne McAnaney said that she believed that the girl was making 'a cry for help' and added the legislation was aimed at those posing a risk to others.
District Judge Ted Magill said that this was the third appearance by the girl in front of him in a matter of weeks.
He said he believed the girl presented a risk to herself and others.
