Anti-social behaviour on the increase in Magherafelt
Anti-social behaviour in the Magherafelt area of Co Derry is on the increase, with the number of incidents reported to police risen by over 10 per cent in the past 11 months.
A report released by the PSNI has revealed that from January to November 30 this year, 901 incidents of anti-social behaviourhttp://www.rivermediacdn.com/adverts had occurred.
This is 85 more than the same period last year.
Martin Kearney, chairman of Magherafelt Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) described the figures as "concerning."
He added: " we will monitor the figures carefully and look at them again over the New Year.
"I would urge young people to be careful and to keep an eye out for each other.”
Local DUP Councillor Anne Forde has said the figures were "disappointing."
She said:“It is disappointing that the figures are up and it is something to be concerned about. I think parents could be more active and know where their children are at night. I would call on the PSNI to continue their efforts to curb anti-social behaviour and deal with it so it doesn’t get out of hand,” she said.
