Baha’is celebrate 200 years

“Think of it as a big Christmas Party with all your friends, no alcohol but the finest music,” says Dr. Les Gornall when talking about the bicentenary celebrations of the birth of the founder of the Baha’i Faith, Baha’u’llah on Friday, October 20. It will take place in the annex of Seamus Heaney HomePlace in Bellaghy, (pictured) a stunning piece of modern architecture in its own right, containing archives of Nobel Prize Winner Seamus Heaney and his poetry. The event will be officially opened by councillor Kim Ashton, chair of the Mid Ulster Council. The café will close at 7pm thus allowing people to view the museum until 5pm (normal museum charges apply), have a light meal in the cafe then move downstairs to the annex. At 7pm a piper will usher all participants into the hall and the proceedings include the Antrim Community Choir, short videos, poetry (naturally) and guest musicians. The event room is a wonderful space that is accessed directly from the main car park through some gates leading through the community organic garden. There are a few seats available, calll Mahin on 028 796 32615 or email [email protected] for a ticket as numbers are limited.
