Bail application adjourned for man who co-operated with police and give his PIN number

The man faced a series of drug charges including being concerned in the supply of cannabis
A man who was remanded in custody at Derry Magistrates Court last week on a number of drug charges after he refused to give his PIN number to police has had a bail application adjourned today.
The man, who was granted anonymity due to the general threat existing in the city, faced a series of drug charges including being concerned in the supply of cannabis.
A police officer told the court that the defendant was arrested on October 11 after police stopped his car at a checkpoint on the Glenshane Road in Derry and drugs valued at £2,500 were found.
At today's hearing a police officer said she had been given the PIN number 'five minutes ago' and she believed the phone would give details of the man's suppliers who the man did not want to be identified.
She said she believed the man to have been involved in the supply of drugs for a number of months and travelled regularly to Belfast and had withheld his PIN to protect his suppliers.
Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said that his client had now co-operated with the police and given the PIN number.
District Judge Barney McElholm said said that he was not prepared to grant bail at this stage but was prepared to adjourn the application for one week.
The man will appear again on October 28.
