A registered charity that provides services for adults with learning disabilities, autism and acquired brian injury is currently developing services into the Magherafelt area.

Kilcreggan Homes Ltd is a registered charity with the Charity Commission and Regulation Quality Improvement Authority. Its central base is in Elizabeth Avenue, Carrickfergus, Co. Antrim.

Their aim is to enhance the lives of those who use their services and facilities and ensure Kilcreggan Homes plays an integral role in the local community.

Damian Cassidy, Director of Kilcreggan Homes, said the firm has recently purchased its first property for ‘supported living’ in Magherafelt.

Mr Cassidy said the company has plans to provide more housing options in that area in the next 24 months.

“We provide a variety of housing options, day opportunities, supported employment and volunteering accompanied by bespoke support planning for people who require an individualised package of support to help them live independently and achieve their ambitions,” he said.

“We offer services to anyone with a learning disability, an autistic spectrum condition or an acquired brain injury who are known to social services and interested in the opportunities our services offer.”

From an idea born in the late 1980s initiated by Dr Oliver Shanks, Kilcreggan Homes Ltd’s first build was in 1994 and has been developing innovative and unique services in response to our service users and their wishes to participate in their community and make a meaningful contribution.

The organisation has been creative in developing unique therapeutic farms, drop in centres, social enterprises, a garden centre and café, volunteering and supported employment opportunities.

Kilcreggan Homes currently support approximately 180 vulnerable adults, however it is anticipated this will increase to 220 in the next two years.

Kilcreggan Homes works in partnership with the Northern Health & Social Care Trust, Belfast Health & Social Care Trust, Southeastern Health & Social Care Trust, The Housing Executive’s ‘Supporting People’ programme, Choice Housing Association and Community Finance Ireland.
