City of Derry Golf Club mourns loss of past lady captain Helen Perston

Tributes are being paid to Helen Perston, a past lady captain and honorary secretary of City of Derry Golf Club, who has died.

Helen, from Doneybrewer in Eglinton - a retired District Nurse - passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in Altnagelvin Hospital. She was aged 78.

Tributes are being paid on City of Derry’s Facebook page.

A post from the club says: “We are saddened to learn of the passing of long standing City of Derry member Helen Perston.”

Elizabeth Allen says: “A true lady she sure was. Loyal, supportive and hard-working."

Helen’s remains will be taken from W J O’Brien & Son’s funeral home on Clooney Road in Eglinton at 11.45am on Monday next for cremation in Roselawn Crematorium in Belfast at 2.00pm.

Predeceased by her husband, Charles, she is survived by daughters Claire, Vicki and Cara and brother, the Rev Elizabeth Johnston.
