Craftivism for Palestine blanket at Derry's Peace Bridge

RISE for Palestine hosting "beautiful and heartbreaking blanket"
Derry's newly formed RISE for Palestine organisation is appealing for volunteers to help hold the "beautiful and heartbreaking blanket" for Gaza made by Craftivism for Palestine, at Derry's Peace Bridge.
Catherine Hutton, one of the co-organisers of the event said: "If you would like the opportunity to take part in this powerful act of protest and to help us hold this beautiful piece of craftism please join us, on Tuesday, July 29, at 5.00pm, on the Peace Bridge.
"Each square on this blanket represents 10 children slaughtered in Gaza," she added, "and now this powerful piece of protest art is coming to Derry as part of its journey around Ireland - hosted by RISE for Palestine.
"Stretching more than 40 metres, the blanket is a devastating visual reminder of the horror unfolding before our eyes.
"Created by Craftivism for Palestine — a collective of women and allies from all 32 counties of Ireland, alongside contributors from Canada, Venezuela, Afghanistan, Greece, England, and beyond — this project is a bold act of remembrance and resistance.
"Every stitch is a cry for justice. Every square is a child. Every metre is a call to act. As the number of squares grew, so did their collective grief — but also their determination.
"We are all angry, heartbroken, and frustrated, but we are not powerless. This is our way of standing with Palestine — through craft, care, and action."
