CRASH UPDATE: Public asked to attend Altnagelvin A&E only if necessary

As a result of this morning’s serious crash on the main Derry to Belfast road, members of the public are being asked to attend the Accident and Emergency Department at Altnagelvin Hospital only if it is necessary.

A number of people were injured in the collision, involving two vans, which occurred on Glenshane Pass close to the Ponderosa bar and restaurant..

A spokesperson for the Western Health and Social Care Trust said: “Altnagelvin Hospital’s Emergency Department (ED) has now received the admissions from the road traffic collision this morning.

“The ED at the hospital is very busy and will remain so for a period of time.

“We would ask that you do not attend Altnagelvin’s ED this morning unless necessary.”
