Debris on road at Castledawson causes alarm

A video of a dangerous incident involving a trailer at Castledawson Roundabout has been viewed more than 18,000 times.

The video entitled ‘Liftoff! Castledawson Roundabout’ was posted to Facebook page NI Drivers last week and has been shared 120 times.

It shows a jeep with a trailer attached to the back turn off the roundabout in the Belfast direction. As the jeep continues on the road a large piece of debris flies into the air, narrowly missing a van and a car in another lane.

Commenting on Facebook, one man said the incident was “so typical of people with trailers.”

“Never put loads in correctly or strap down. Seen it happen loads of times,” he said.

Another lady spoke of a similar experience.

“Oh wow this happened to me on my way to a wedding reception,” she wrote.

“I was behind a tractor and a sheet of corrugated iron blew off the trailer and almost hit my car.”
