‘Defend Northlands’ rally planned for Derry’s Guildhall

‘The whole city has been disgusted by removal of core funding’ - Emmet Doyle
A rally to protest the Department of Health’s decision to remove core funding from Derry’s Northlands addiction treatment centre, has been organised in the city.
The ‘Defend Northlands’ rally will take place at 2.00pm on Saturday, April 19, in Guildhall Square.
Speaking ahead of the event, organiser and addiction campaigner Emmet Doyle said: “The whole city has been disgusted by the decision of the Department of Health to remove core funding from Northlands, which all of us in this City know is a vital lifeline for those suffering from addiction, and their families.
“The response from the powers that be has been entirely inadequate, and today we learned that the Health Department is refusing to review the decision. This is not acceptable to the people of the North West.
“We will send a message to all of those who have let this service, and this city, down on Saturday. Come along, bring your friends and family - it is for us to defend our services".
