Derry business students enjoy Seagate partnership

Business studies students at North West Regional College (NWRC) in Derry are often encouraged to complement their enterprise, leadership and team-working skills while undertaking a fundraising project for a local charity of their choice.
For the students on the HND in Business Studies course, 2014-15 has been another successful year when they chose to support the local Men's Action Network, raising £420 through a number of unique fundraising activities. A new development in this collaboration was a partnership with Seagate Technology, who agreed to sponsor an annual leadership prize, awarded to the College Business student who demonstrated strong leadership skills throughout the project.
The wining student was Ruth McCrossan who was presented with her award by Peter Rabett, Seagate’s Manufacturing Manager. Mr Rabett said Seagate were delighted to be associated with this fundraising initiative, and to have the opportunity to recognise and reward leadership qualities through their award.
He added that this partnership with the School of Business Services and General Education at NWRC derived from the provision of invaluable training support in Leadership Skills, Trainer Development and Coaching Skills.
He concluded: “Our involvement with this project now gives us the opportunity to give something back and to encourage the employees of tomorrow to nurture their own leadership skills.” Photo shows Peter Rabett, Seagate’s Manufacturing Manager presenting the HND Leadership student of the Year Award to HND Business Student Ruth McCrossan
