Derry City board backs team boss Hutton
Peter Hutton insists his employers are fully behind him as Derry City take a very welcome break from the strains of a stressful season.
Everyone at the club, from the players to the coaching staff, have two weeks to regroup after a very poor start to 2015 campaign with the Candy Stripes languishing fourth from bottom in the league – just three points above the relegation play-off spot - after picking up just three wins in 17 league games.
It is the ideal time to press the reset button at Derry, and with Anthony Elding and Sean Houston now gone, there is at last some money available to spend on new faces when the July transfer window opens.
Hutton (pictured) - affectionately known as "Pizza" - remains adamant that he is the men who can deliver at Derry and insists he has the support of those in charge at the club.
“Those who I have spoken to on the board have been very supportive,” he said.
“There’s no gun to the head by any means. We all agreed at the start of the season that it was going to be a transitional season.
“The money isn’t there to go out and challenge the top four and we’re all very aware of that and the board are certainly behind me.”
