Derry City ladies a point away from league title and promotion to Premier League

Derry City Ladies go into the last game of the season against Valley Rangers at Mallusk tonight knowing a point will secure the league title and promotion to the top flight of ladies football in the North.
Derry missed the chance to gain automatic promotion to the NIWFA Premier League last Thursday when they were held 3-3 by second-placed Lisburn Ladies at the YMCA grounds at Drumahoe, the Candy Stripes goals coming from Shannon Dunne, Rachel Barnaby and Sharlene O’Hara.
The results keeps the Brandywell girls three points clear at the top of the league table and a draw in Mallusk tonight would clinch automatic promotion which would see them competing against the likes of Linfield, Glentoran and Crusaders next season.
Meanwhile, Derry meet Lisburn again on Friday, 4 September, in the Championship cup final at Moyola FC, kick-off 7.30pm.
