Derry 'human chain' in support of city detox centre

A human chain, taking in two Derry bridges, is to be formed across the River Foyle this afternoon in support of the campaign for a detox/crisis intervention centre in the city.

The "Chain Along the Foyle" will take place at 3.00pm.

The organisers are calling on people to come out and support the event so a continuous chain can be formed along the river, taking in Craigavon Bridge and the Peace Bridge.

The event is being held as concerns grow at the high level of drug and alcohol abuse taking place in the city which has been responsible for a number of people taking or attempting to take thieir own lives.
