Derry man (60) returned for trial on weapon charge

A man has been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on a charge of possessing a magazine for a firearm.

Hugh Gérard O'Donnell (60) of Lisnamon Court in Derry appeared at a preliminary enquiry at the local Magistrate's Court today.

He faces one charge of possessing a magazine for an automatic weapon in suspicious circumstances on January 8 2023.

It was accepted there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions. 

O'Donnell said he did not wish to call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage.

The defendant was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on February 29 and released on bail.
