Derry man extradited from USA appears before Derry Crown Court
Stewart McAllister from Pelham Road in the Waterside, who is currently in custody in Maghaberry Prison pleaded guilty to dangerous driving at Duke Street, driving without insurance, driving with false registration plates, possessing stolen goods, namely the false registration plates and guilty to failing to report, failing to stop and failing to remain at the scene of an accident
A 30-year-old man who spent three months in a prison in the USA awaiting his extradition back to the North to face criminal charges dating back to 2016, has appeared before Derry Crown Court for his arraignment on the charges.
Stewart McAllister from Pelham Road in the Waterside, who is currently in custody in Maghaberry Prison pleaded guilty to dangerous driving at Duke Street, driving without insurance, driving with false registration plates, possessing stolen goods, namely the false registration plates and guilty to failing to report, failing to stop and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
He admitted committing those offences on September 4, 2016.
The defendant pleaded guilty to a further charge of assaulting a police officer on September 6, 2016.
A barrister for the Public Prosecution Service told Judge Philip Babington that two other co-defendants in the case have already been dealt with.
The case was adjourned to be reviewed on November 29 and the defendant was remanded in continuing custody.
