Derry Magistrate's Court heard today how two drug packages were intercepted by police on their way to a local man.

Jason Harkin (35) of Lyndhurst Road in Derry admitted two charges of attempted possession of Class B and Class C drugs on dates between February 28 and March 12, 2021.

The court heard that the packages were intercepted and a short time later Harkin was arrested and his phone was seized.

Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said that his client's last drug conviction was in 2014 and he had since taken steps to deal with his issues.

He said Harkin was now drug free and had made full admissions to police.

Harkin was fined £300.
