Derry man pleads guilty to charge of sexual assault

A man awaiting sentence for a sexual assault in Altnagelvin Hospital has pleaded guilty to another charge of sexual assault. 

Christopher Woods (60) of Duke Street in Derry appeared at the local Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault. 

Woods was charged with sexually assaulting a female on October 17 last year and pleaded guilty. 

Defence counsel Sean Doherty said that Woods was awaiting sentencing for a similar offence. 

He said there was a ‘complex psychiatric background’ to this case. 

The case was adjourned until November 28 for review and Woods was released on continuing bail.
