Members and officers from Derry and Strabane Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) have with the Donegal Joint Policing Committee (JPC) to discuss the possible setting up of a partnership.

At the meeting, held in County House in Lifford, updates were provided by both the PCSP and the JPC with members identifying a number of issues where a cross-border partnership approach could be beneficial.

Speaking after the meeting Cllr Eric McGinley, Chair of the Derry and Strabane PCSP, said was “extremely informative” and a “very positive engagement.”

He added: “Although there are structural differences between the two policing bodies there is obviously potential for closer working and delivery of partnership initiatives.

“The PSNI and An Garda Siochana meet regularly on policing issues and it would be beneficial for the PCSP and JPC to communicate on community safety issues that impact on all our residents.

“The Derry and Strabane PCSP remains committed to working with all our partners to build safer, shared and confident communities.”
