Pupils from two Derry schools are set to perform at Belfast’s famous Grand Opera House.

Over 100 children aged between 10 and 12 will perform their own opera in public for the very first time at the famous theatre on Monday.

Among them will be pupils from Nazareth House and Holy Family primary schools in Derry.

The show is being run by OperaQuest, a project created by Children and the Arts and delivered by NI Opera and the Grand Opera House.

The children will be joined by Derry’s classical soprano and Children & the Arts ambassador, Margaret Keys.

The children have worked with opera practitioner, Lucia Vernon-Long, in workshops at the Grand Opera House and in their classrooms, and have taken inspiration to attend opera by writing, composing and performing their own opera productions.

OperaQuest was created by Children & the Arts to introduce primary school age children to opera for the first time.
