Critically acclaimed Derry songwriter Chris McConaghy aka Our Krypton Son returns to the turntables this weekend with his second album ‘Fleas & Diamonds’ – launching this Friday 10 March at the Nerve Centre, with special guests PORTS and Conor Mason.

McConaghy earned plaudits far and wide for his distinctive, rich sound, with the Irish Daily Mirror hailing his first LP as ‘truly remarkable’ not to mention BBC’s Stephen McCauley describing him as ‘one of the best songwriters I’ve ever heard’.

For his second album, McConaghy disappeared into the wilderness of Creeslough to find a modicum of inspiration, emerging with twelve unique songs at once introspective, otherworldly and hopelessly romantic.

‘Fleas & Diamonds’ is a cathartic experience for both listener and singer. Across its 46 minutes and 47 seconds are moments of profound beauty, honesty and truth. His self-titled debut album was produced by Sam Williams (Supergrass, The Go Team) and released in 2013 to great acclaim.

McConaghy has shared the stage with acts including Snow Patrol, Hozier, dEUS, Two Door Cinema Club, Alabama 3 and performed coveted slots at T Vital and Other Voices in Dingle. ‘Fleas & Diamonds’ will be available on physical and digital formats from Smalltown America on March 10.

Our Krypton Son, featuring Special Guests PORTS and Conor Mason are performing this Friday at the Nerve Centre. Doors 8pm. Music from 9pm.

"Our Krypton Son could prove himself to be of the best songwriters ever to come out of this country" - Brian Coney (The Thin Air, The Quietus)

‘Classic, often understated pop songs’ (The Irish Daily Mirror.)
