Derry teen given final warning and new 9pm curfew following bail breach

15-year-old girl issued a strict warning following her third bail violation since March
A 15-year-old girl has appeared at Derry Magistrate's Court today charged with breaching her bail by having consumed alcohol and the court heard that she had succumbed to 'peer pressure'.
The girl who cannot be named due to her age was detected with alcohol on her at 10.50pm on August 1.
A police officer told the court that they were becoming concerned that the girl was 'becoming unmanageable' in recent days as this was her third breach of bail since March.
She added that there was a risk of reoffending while on bail.
A social worker gave evidence that there was a safety plan in place for the girl but added that the girl had had difficulties with another resident in the children's home.
Defence solicitor Roma McGeady said that her client had been doing well and had her curfew increased.
She said the girl was 'emotional and remorseful' and that she usually didn't drink but had succumbed to peer pressure.
The girl was released on bail but her curfew was reduced from 10pm until 9pm and the defendant was warned that any future breaches would have more consequences.
The girl will appear again on August 18.
