Elizabeth Crumlish (49) of Beechwood Crescent in Derry appeared after failing to appear last Monday for her arraignment

A woman with 'an atrocious record' who has 19 previous breaches of bail has appeared at Derry Magistrates' Court after she didn't turn up for the Crown Court last week.

Elizabeth Crumlish (49) of Beechwood Crescent in Derry appeared after failing to appear last Monday for her arraignment.

A police officer said that because this was the nineteenth breach he believed there is 'no way she will attend court'.

The officer said Crumlish had 189 previous convictions.

Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said his client had turned up for her preliminary enquiry but the officer said that this was because her defence team had brought her to court.

Mr MacDermott said that his client failed to turn up for her Crown Court appearance on a theft charge as she said she had not received a letter.

District Judge Oonagh Mullan said she would release Crumlish on bail but if she didn't turn up again she would go into custody.

Crumlish will appear in Derry Crown Court on April 3.
