Mickey Harte's team fall to lacklustre defeat to the Kingdom

Derry 0-10

Kerry 0-15

Derry’s season came to an end at Sunday at the hands of Kerry at Croke Park.

After the sides were level with 18 minutes to go, Kerry hit seven of the final nine points to seal the deal.

The sides were level four times in the opening half with goal chances at either end.

Gareth McKinless pulled a goal chance wide early on with Glass opening the scoring for Derry after David Clifford had hit the games first score.

Tony Brosnan and a David Clifford mark Kerry 0-3 to 0-1 ahead after right minutes.

Shane McGuigan hit three points – including one off his right - to put Derry ahead.

Derry needed McGuigan and Brendan Rogers to perform a double save when Gavin White and Tadhg Morley were in on goal.

Joe O’Connor, Brian Ó Beaglaoich and Paul Geaney helped Kerry hit the front but points from Rogers and McGuigan ensured they were deadlocked 0- 6 each at the break.

Kerry dominated the early stages of the second half but a McGuigan free had Derry ahead before Diarmuid O’Connor levelled, the Kingdom’s sixth scorer before a David Clifford free put Kerry 0-8 to 0-7 ahead after 48 minutes,

It was Paul Cassidy who tied the game once again with Chrissy McKaigue and David Clifford both yellow carded after 53 minutes.

That was as good as it got for the league champions as Kerry’s impact from the bench made the difference.

Killian Spillane, Dylan Geaney both scored as the Kingdom booked their semi-final spot.
