Dobbins welcomes 1,600 new Derry homes

The approval for 1,600 new homes in Derry has been welcomed by the chairperson of Derry City Council's Planning Committee.

SDLP Cllr Angela Dobbins (pictured above) said the mix of social and private housing across the city, including Skeoge, Lenamore Road, Drumahoe and Tullyally, was “terrific news.”

She said: "The approval of planning permission for 1,600 new homes for Derry is terrific news. The social housing deficit in Derry is a very real crisis.

“The largest development approved will see 1,400 new homes built at Skeoge and these will go some way to helping fill the gap in provision in the city."
