Dungiven Bypass campaigners will continue to protest until Roads Minister gives them a commitment
Locals are expected to continue their white line picket in Dungiven this afternoon in protest to the lack of progress on a bypass for the town.
Since November, members of Dungiven Bypass Committee, along with local residents and Sinn Féin councillors, have taken part in a white line picket on the town’s Main Street on the first Friday of every month.
The campaigners say they will continue their protest until the people of the town receive a ‘satisfactory’ response from Roads Minister Danny Kennedy.
Speaking recently, Bypass Committee member Denis Hegarty said: “The protests are still receiving a lot of support in the community and seem to be putting some pressure on the powers that be. The Bypass Committee and the residents of Dungiven will continue to protest until we get a satisfactory response or a commitment from Mr Kennedy that the plans for the bypass will progress in the near future.”
The picket will take place between 4pm and 4.30pm.
