Dungiven to welcome NI sheep festival
The festival will take place tomorrow (Tuesday) at McFarlane family farm
A Dungiven family farm will play host to Northern Ireland's sheep farming sector tomorrow, July 1. The NSA Sheep NI 2025, will be taking place at the McFarlane family farm.
The event is expected to draw farmers and industry professionals from across the region and beyond, offering a comprehensive showcase of the latest developments and expertise.
The McFarlane family farm, the venue for the event, is a successful commercial sheep enterprise, running 1,200 Mule ewes (predominantly Texel-cross) and a flock of traditional hill ewes.
This working farm will provide a relevant and practical setting for attendees to see the industry's best practices in action.
NSA Sheep NI 2025 will feature a dual focus on knowledge exchange and practical demonstration. A program of seminars, led by industry experts, will cover key topics relevant to modern sheep production, from flock health and nutrition to grassland management and market trends. Alongside the seminars, the event will host sheepdog trials, shearing demonstrations, a fleece competition, and the Young Shepherds Competition. Breed society stands will offer detailed information on a range of breeds, and a large trade area will allow farmers to explore the newest products and services from agricultural suppliers.
Recognising the importance of networking and community within the agricultural sector, NSA Sheep NI 2025 will also provide ample opportunities for farmers to connect with their peers. A range of catering options will be available throughout the day.
NSA Sheep NI 2025 is positioned as a key event for farmers looking to enhance their knowledge, improve their farm practices, and engage with the wider sheep farming community.
