ELECTION 2017 BREAKING: SDLP's John Dallat produces stunning comeback to win final seat in East Derry
The SDLP's John Dallat has produced a stunning comeback to take the final Assembly seat in East Derry.
Mr Dallat trailed for most of the day and at one point looked to have given up hope before mounting a massive turnaround through transfers to take the final seat ahead of Sinn Fein's Cathal O hOisin.
Mr Dallat was the subject of much controversy after returning from retirement to run in place of sitting SDLP MLA Gerry Mullan who decided to run as an Independent after quitting the party.
He was elected at the twelfth stage despite failing to reach the quota with 6091 votes.
