EU membership 'good for business': Foyle MLA

The North's continued membership of the European Union is “good for business,” Sinn Fein Foyle MLA Raymond McCartney has said.
Mr McCartney said all sections of society “benefit hugely” from our membership of the EU.
He said the business community, in particular, recognised this benefit every day as they were able to trade freely with a huge market place across all EU member states.
Mr McCartney added: "The fact that a survey carried out by the Chamber of Commerce in the North has shown that an overwhelming majority of its members, 81 per cent, wish to remain in the EU is a clear indication of the value of our continued membership to business.
"As well as access to a market of 500 million people, support from the EU also helps small businesses and start-ups grow and allows established ventures to share expertise across Europe.
Mr McCartney concluded: "Businesses in the North clearly recognise the huge opportunities that exist in Europe and want to continue to avail of them as members of the EU."
