Former SDLP MLA Gerry Mullan to run as an Independent in East Derry

Former East Derry SDLP MLA Gerry Mullan is quitting the party to run as an Independent.
Mr Mullan admitted he was disappointed to be de-selected in favour of the man he replaced, John Dallat earlier this month.
He had said that he would be taking legal advice.
Dallat, a well known figure in Northern Irish politics for many years returned as it was felt he offered the best chance of holding the seat for the SDLP with the restructing of the Assembly from six seats per constituency to five.
