Foyle MLA welcomes additional funding for departments

'Reintroduction of multi-year budgets will help Executive plan ahead and put public finances on a more sustainable footing' - Pádraig Delargy
The allocation of £118 million by the Executive following the June monitoring round has been welcomed by Sinn Féin MLA Pádraig Delargy (Foyle).
The funding package includes £25 million each for health and education; supporting special educational needs; childcare; higher education; and initiatives to end violence against women and girls.
£9 million has been earmarked to deliver more social, affordable, and sustainable homes, while more than £11 million will help address pressures on the water network.
Mr Delargy said: "As we continue to challenge British government underfunding, it’s welcome that additional resources have been allocated to departments.
“This includes support for vital initiatives already making a real difference, like the Childcare Subsidy Scheme, which is keeping more money in the pockets of workers and families.
“Looking forward, the reintroduction of multi-year budgets will help the Executive plan ahead, prioritise investment, and put public finances on a more sustainable footing.
“Sinn Féin will continue to demand fair funding for our public services and an end to British government cuts.”
