The Derry woman who died after a three-vehicle collision on the Glenshane Pass last week will this morning be buried from the church where she once served as a nun.

Loreto Douglas (64) had been travelling to a funeral on Wednesday morning last when the collision, involving two vans and a car, occurred near the Ponderosa Bar on the main Derry to Belfast road.

She was airlifted to hospital but later died from her injuries.

It is understood Ms Douglas's car was initially involved in a minor crash with a van before a second collision took place involving a third vehicle.

Four other people were taken to hospital, one of whom suffered serious leg injuries.

A former nun with the Sisters of Mercy Order, Ms Douglas (pictured) lived at Belvoir Park in the Culmore area.

Originally from the Waterside area of the city, she was a founding member of the Lifestart Foundation, a family support charity where she had worked since 1986.

Her remains will be taken from her home at 9.30am for 10.00am Requiem Mass in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Thornhill.

She will be laid to rest in Ardmore cemetery.
