Women in the Galliagh area of Derry are being provided with personal alarms after a woman was attacked and injured while walking in the area at the start of the year.

The woman was mugged by two males as she walked along Skeoge Road close to Glenabbey at around 10.00pm on 3 January.

One of the men demanded her phone and as she handed it over they attacked her leaving her with cuts and bruises to her body.

As a result, Derry and Strabane Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) has teamed with Galliagh Women’s Group to provide personal attack alarms to female residents living in the area.
