Housekeeper charged with stealing over £9,000 from employer

A 29 year-old Polish woman has appeared before court charged with stealing £9,740 from her employer. Katarzyna Kaminska of King Street, Magherafelt appeared before the town’s Magistrates’ Court where the charge of theft by employee was put to her. It is alleged that the defendant stole money belonging to her employer on dates between April 10 and April 30 last year. The defendant spoke only to confirm that she understood the charges. The court was told that at the time, Kaminska had been employed by the injured party as a housekeeper. District Judge Alan White adjourned the case for a pre-sentence report. The defendant was released on her own bail of £300 with the conditions not to have any contact with the injured party or to enter Brenna Court, Magherafelt. She was also ordered to surrender her passport. Kaminska will appear back before court for sentencing on May 18.
