Institute in Premiership action against Glenavon tonight
Institute travel to Mourneview Park tonight to take on Glenavon in the Danske Bank Premiership.
Manager Paul Kee is happy for Aaron Walsh to remain as Derry side's penalty taker, if the midfielder is happy to do so.
Walsh missed a 93rd minute penalty against Crusaders last week, a result which prevented ‘Stute from winning their first league game in six games, and which denied his team two valuable league points.
It was the second home game in succession that Walsh had missed from the spot and his third penalty miss overall this season, but regardless, Kee is happy to leave the decision to the player himself.
Walsh himself was devastated after the miss, insisting he had no excuses.
'I thought I needed to redeem myself after missing the last one against Ballinamallard and I did that in the first half. At this level, it's unacceptable. It's not all about me, it's about the team and we needed the points. We aren't going to get a better opportunity than getting a penalty in the last kick of the game to get three points against one of the best teams in the league.'
‘Stute have scored only two from seven penalties this season, with Stephen O’Flynn and Jude Ballard also missing from 12 yards.
Amidst the gloom of that penalty miss, there were plenty of positives for ‘Stute last Saturday, as they raised their game against one of the strongest teams in the Premier Division.
Defensively, the Drumahoe side were solid and determined and manager Kee is hoping that his players can produce a similar display at Mourneview Park tonight.
