It's one of the busiest road junctions in Derry, but police say a lot of people seem to 'lose their senses' when driving through it

Police have urged motorists to take more care at one of the busiest road junctions in Derry.

They are talking about the traffic lights junction of Dungiven Road and Irish Street, beside the busy Lisnagelvin Tesco store.

A PSNI spokesperson said, in particular, people seem to ‘lose their senses’ when turning right at the junction.

“This diagram shows what lane you should be in depending on where you want to go, hopefully if you weren’t sure before this will help!

“Remember every junction is different! Check for signs on your approach, and then check the arrows/markings on the road.

“If you’re in the wrong lane just slow down, check your mirrors, signal, then manoeuvre – don’t act rashly without thinking.”
