A man who travelled from Belfast to Derry to access drugs was found unconscious in the city, Derry Magistrate's Court heard today.

Andrew Joseph McFadden (27) with an address in Malone Road in Belfast admitted offences that occurred on December 7, 2019.

The court heard that police were called by ambulance staff to an unconscious male McFadden.

It appeared he had taken some substance and he was taken to hospital.

Defence counsel Barry Gibson said his client had travelled to the city to access the drugs after difficulties in Belfast.

After getting the drugs he took some and was rendered unconscious.

The barrister said that his client was currently on remand for a serious offence.

Deputy District Judge Paul Copeland said that the defendant was 'no stranger' to possessing drugs.

He imposed a conditional discharge for a period of two years.
