A judge at Derry Magistrate's Court today warned a local man that he 'better resign himself to sticking to his bail conditions' or he was going into custody.

Ryan McLaughlin (36) of Broomy Lane in Derry appeared charged with breaching his bail on August 11 by being out after his curfew.

A police officer told the court that G4S made multiple attempts to contact McLaughlin but were unsuccessful and added that he simply was not at his address.

The court heard that there were 7 attempts to contact the defendant.

Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said that his client accepted that there were 'various breaches' but added that his mother was willing to take him back to her address.

He said that the defendant had handed himself in to police and told the court that McLaughlin had not been given a final warning.

District Judge Barney McElholm said that the next bail breach would result in custody and it didn't matter what it was.

McLaughlin will appear again on August 22.
